Peace of Christ

Updated: Jan 11, 2021

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15

My season was filled with stress, self-hatred, sadness, rejection, and fear. I felt alone, unloved, angry, shamed, guilty, worthless, lonely, unloved, and a complete failure. Even on good days, I never felt peace.

What is this peace that comes from Christ? The peace that should be ruling my heart? John 14:27 tells us of the gift Christ left us: I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So, don’t be troubled or afraid.

Throughout my spiritual growth, I have had to learn and continue to learn that accepting Christ does not end my struggles. The struggle is real. Christ gives us the tools to deal with our struggles. One of those tools is peace.

Peace of mind and heart. Peace to know that our troubles do not last forever. Peace to know that whatever life throws our way – conflict, hardship, loss, pain, fear, etc. - God is still on the throne.

And it is God’s true peace that Christ gives us when we accept and live in Christ. Philippians 4:7: Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

So, what is the peace that comes from Christ and should rule our heart? It is placing all trust in God. Knowing that God is in control always. That no matter what we may be going through, as a child of

God, we have Him standing guard over our hearts. And for that we should be truly grateful.

Accept the gift of peace Christ has given you.

Declaration: Declare today, I have the Peace of Christ.

Action: Study God’s Word. Meditate on scriptures on peace.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of peace. Your peace washes over me and guards my heart. Living with the Peace of Christ helps me to transform – hate to love; sorrow to joy; despair to hope; fear to confidence; conflict to peace. Guide me to share with others the true Peace of Christ which comes from God. In Jesus Name. Amen
