No Hiding Place
Updated: Jan 11
even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. Psalm 139:10
The theme for Psalm 139 (ESV) is “Search Me, O God, and Know my Heart”
In Psalm 139:2-9, David is talking to God and acknowledging God is everywhere. He knows all, sees all and holds all power. We are never out of his reach. There is no hiding place.
When I drifted from God, I was ashamed to turn and run back to Him. I did not understand as David did in Psalm 139:1 – O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. God already knew.
He knows. Our thoughts, our dreams, our hopes, our fears. He knows our comings and our goings. You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time. However, you cannot fool God ever! What you do in secret is not a secret from God.
God himself declares in Jeremiah 23:23-24 – Am I a God who is only close at hand? says the LORD. “No, I am far away at the same time. Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the LORD.
I could not hide from God. You cannot hide from God. Why would we want to? What sins have we committed that He has not already forgiven? What unspoken thought, that He does not already know? Where can our footsteps fall that God has not already been?
Continue to seek God. Stay committed and faithful.
